A monumental and rare architectural "Glory" fragment dating to the late 18th century. This commanding hand carved wooden piece, spanning an impressive 130 cm (approx. 51 inches), features the Eye of Providence set within a triangle, emerging from a hand-carved celestial cloud bank. Traditionally used as a crowning element in a Baroque high altar or above a cathedral pulpit, this piece represents the pinnacle of late Enlightenment-era ecclesiastical carving.

The central icon is surrounded by a dynamic sunburst of radiating gilded rays, symbolizing divine light. The clouds are sculpted with deep, rhythmic undulations typical of the period's dramatic flair, showing remnants of their original polychrome finish alongside centuries of honest, atmospheric wear.

Presented in its original "as-found" condition, with historic repairs, and signs of historic woodworm that we have treated purely as a precaution, this piece boasts a stunning authentic patina. There is expected weathering to the wood and loss to the gilding, with some tips of the rays having been worn or lost over time, as well as small areas of the cloud, a testament to its long history as a salvaged architectural artifact. The structural integrity remains sound for wall mounting.
